Overview:

The goal of the camp is to continue your development as a player while immersing you in and exposing you to a competitive college tennis environment. While technique will be evaluated and addressed, the aim of the camp is to focus on how to play and how best to prepare for college tennis.

  • 15 hours of on court collegiate style practices and match play for UTR ratings

  • On court instruction and interaction exclusively with college coaches

  • Get exposure and network with college coaches

  • improve your skills and learn singles and doubles strategy specific to college tennis. 

  • In class seminars to motivate and educate players on how to prepare for college tennis

Facilities: The Hamlin Tennis Center is the home of the Penn men's and women's tennis teams and is one of the finest collegiate facilities in the country! Featuring 20 courts (12 outdoor & 8 indoor). Resident Program includes Housing and Meals: The Resident Program includes meals, 24-hour adult supervision and luxury hotel accommodations at the Homewood Suites University City. Each room includes a king bed and sofa bed. Maximum 2 campers per room. Specific roommates can be requested, or if no request is made, players will be assigned a roommate of the same gender and age. 

Airport Pickup Service: Upon request - campers flying unaccompanied by an adult can be met by a member of our coaching staff at the Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) according to the following schedule:

Schedule Arrival: Friday, June 21 between 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

Schedule Departure: Sunday, June 23 after 6:00 p.m.

The group will take the Regional Rail service (SEPTA), which includes an Airport Line that runs directly from the Philadelphia International Airport to the University City station. University City station is only a few steps away from Penn's campus. The cost is approx. $10 each way. Players must bring cash to pay for tickets.

Detailed information on exact meeting location and contact information of the staff member meeting the group at the airport will be texted to the cell phone numbers provided during registration of parent and camper 48 hrs before the start of camp.

 

To schedule an airport chaperone, the Travel/Housing form must be completed at least 10 days prior to start of camp.

 

Roommates can be requested on the Travel/Housing form. Will do our best to accommodate. However, we cannot guarantee requests that are less than 30 days before the start of camp.

Commuter Program includes Lunch: The commuter program includes daily lunch according to the schedule below.

FRIDAY JUNE 21 - 1st Day of Camp

1:45-2:45 p.m. – Resident camper check in at Penn Tennis Center

2:00-2:45 p.m. – Commuter camper check in at Penn Tennis Center

3:00-3:30 p.m. – Welcome seminar and introduction of college coaches
3:35-3:50 p.m. – Warm-up/stretching

4:00-6:00 p.m. – Initial workout and matchplay drill session

6:00 p.m. – commuter campers get picked up
6:00-7:00 p.m. – Dinner for residents
8:00-9:00 p.m. – Meeting for residents
10:00 p.m. – Lights out

 

SATURDAY JUNE 22 - 2nd Day of Camp

6:30 a.m. -7:30 a.m. – Breakfast for residents
8:15 a.m. - 8:35 a.m. – Morning seminar and introduction of college coaches

8:35 a.m. - 8:50 a.m. – Warm-up/stretching
9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. – Single & doubles team matchplay with on-court coaching
12:10-1:10 p.m. – Lunch/Rest
1:15-2:00 p.m. – Classroom presentation by coaches

2:00-5:00 p.m. – Singles & doubles matchplay drills and “college-style” team practices

5:00 p.m. - commuter campers get picked up

5:00-6:00 p.m. - Parents Seminar by Tarek Merchant (Founder/Director) at penn indoor tennis center. (facebook live for parents not able to attending in person)
5:30-6:30 p.m. – Dinner for residents
7:00-9:30 p.m. – Evening activity
10:00 p.m. – Lights out

SUNDAY JUNE 23 - Last Day of Camp

6:30 a.m. -7:30 a.m. – Breakfast for residents

8:15 a.m. - 8:35 a.m. – Morning seminar and introduction of college coaches
